Hi, i need to copy all files off a drive on one machine to a drive on another machine with a batch file i can call as a scheduled task. I need to fist zip up all the files on the destination machine to a file called ddmmyyyy.zip (todays date) then copy all the files off the first machine to the second.. please can anyone advise???

Kindest thanks,

SH

I was going to suggest using rsync instead but then i found this.
See if that will do what you need. Rsync can be used to transfer only the differences, saving the time needed to replicate from the source to the target and DeltaCopy is a windows only program using the rsync protocol. It is free, has a task schedueler, etc.

I have never used it, but it should do the trick.

Personally, I would recommend using NTBackup and infozip to do this. That's what I have running at one client. NTBACKUP backs up all the files to a bkf file than infozip's command line utility zips them.
