Hi,

Is there any software on the market, running on a NT server, which will be able to do Hot backup of an oracle database (revision 8.0.4) located on a HP9000 machine (OS HP-UX 10.20) ??
We heard about Time Navigator, Legato Networker, Veritas NetBackup, etc....
Is anybody using a solution like this ?

Thanks in advance,

why do you want to backup a Unix box from NT?

assuming there are compelling reasons for this I still don't think you need a 3rd party tool. just write and schedule a batch file which invokes SQL*Plus and builds a subscript which places each tablespace in backup mode, FTPs its files, takes it out of backup (+control file & log files from backup window) and writes to DLT (or whatever you use) w/NT backup. I have peers in a sister business unit who use rman w/Veritas but I do the same thing with gool 'ol ksh and tar for free (for what you'd pay for 3rd party software you could buy a DLT for your HP-UX box) and (in my never 2bHO) more fault tolerant (KISS principle).
