I don't want to assume anything so here is the question.
What is the difference between the [ silver ] Remote access / Backup & Restore card..... VS a Remote Acess, UPGRADE, Backup & restore card.

I would like to think that the UPGRADE card is a ONE SHOT deal...Once used, it is just like a Remote Acess/Backup & restore card.

I want to use a ...used... Remote Acess, Upgrade, backup & restore card in a Partner ACS 7.0 just for the backup feature...I like the idea of an external backup for redundantcy...I'm aware of the internal backup on the 7.0

Any input from the Pro's out there would be appreciated.
Thanks

The R7 uses a higher capacity Card than the R1-R6. An older card won't work unless it is one for a 7

They work actually quite well, but only from R3 on you can't use any R1 cards

they still work for all the sites I use them right now ;-)
maybe I am just incredibly lucky.
easiest way to find out just try it you will see.

Thanks all for your info... but my question STILL remains, has anyone ever had a Avaya or Lucent backup/ restore and UPGRADE card where the UPGRADE can be used more than once.

I'm under the impression from past experience that they never sold a upgrade card that could be used more than once.

I have never seen or heard of one....but ...you never know.

upgrade is a one time thing, it even works to downgrade a system, if you have a new and unused backup and restore card then it will upload the firmware to the processor, those cards from an R3 to R6 will upgrade any processor R3 to R6 to whatever release card you have, R7 is a different hardware and it "hopefully" doesn't try to load the lower release into the R7 processor but I have never tried that one as the new cards are quite pricy. So you are right in your assumption that they are actually the same card but one of them has a one time use firmware upload in it.

Upgrade cards are Yellow. Upgrades from Avaya can be Written to green backup/restore cards and used multiple times too.

Hi everyone,

I have a question along these lines as well. Can the yellow upgrade card be erased and reprogrammed. I think it's a CC# 107932089. I have an Omnidrive pro and the required software.

I have a version 5 processor that I want to take to 6.0 w/ daylight savings patch.

I also have a version 7.0J that I would like to update to a 7.0K. They were donated to my church. I know that the v7s have lots of issues. I would like one to be updated and stable.

Thanks in advance.

Phil

The R6 files will fit on the yellow card but the R7 will require an 8 Meg card

Thank you for clearing that up ttech.

Do you need an 8mb card exactly or will a 16mb card work ?

I was looking at this one:

An 8mg card is almost impossible to find. Can you recommend a
compatible card ?

Is it a straight copy to the card at position 0 or is there an
offset ?

Does the card require the attribute area to be set to anything specific.

Thank you all for your assistance.

The R6 upgrade software on the website will not upgrade from R5 to R6. It is for upgrading once the ACS is an R6. You need to purchase a one time R6 upgrade from Avaya.
