Hi Everybody,

We are running ArcServe 2000 (service pack 4) and Backup Agent for Oracle (service pack 4)installed on a Windows NT server. We also have database Oracle 8i on the same machine.
And this is the problem :
I have enabled the Archivelog mode, but when I try and view the database through the Arcserve Manager, with internal user i didn't see any error message, but the datafile can't be shown

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem ??
Thanks

There are a few things that you should check:

1. Oracle must be up and running for you to browse the database.
2. You must be running in archive log mode. You can verify this by issuing the command 'archive log list'. The output will look something like this:

Database log mode Archive Mode
Automatic archival Enabled
Archive destination f:\oracle\sapdata\CER\saparch
Oldest online log sequence 68
Next log sequence to archive 71
Current log sequence 71

3. The Oracle agent must be installed and configured for each instance. Be sure to use internal and the correct password. If you changed the password for sys, then the internal user now has the same password.
4. Right-click the Oracle agent in Backup Manager, select security and specify internal and the correct password.
5. You may also want to change both the "Job Engine" and "Backup RPC Server" services to start using the Administrator account. Administrator should be a member of ORA_DBA.
6. When browsing the database on the local machine, you should be logged in with an account that is a member of ORA_DBA.

Good luck!

Thanks for your kindness...

I will try this tips, but i would like to ask you how to make an administrator account become a member of ORA_DBA??

Example:
I had create an administrator account on Windows NT called applmgr user, now how can i make this user become a member of ORA_DBA ?

thanks again before..

ORA_DBA is a regular NT user group.

For Windows NT 4 use Start->Programs->Administrative Tools->User Manager for Domans and add the user to the group ORA_DBA.

For Windows 2000 use Start->Settings->ControlPanel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management. There is a selection named Local users and groups.
