Hello all,
I have a question which i have posed to CA support and they have to told me that i have to live with it until Arcserve v9, but i dont believe that anyone could possibly live with this especially if you have more than one Oracle server in your organisation.
My problem is this, when i backup my Oracle server using the Arcserve Backup agent for Oracle i enter internal username and password and hey presto it picks up all the tablespaces in the Oracle database, including the Archive log and Control file, and it all backs up nicely.
So whats your problem then Kev i hear you say?
Well listen to this for an Arcserve special. When i want to restore my Oracle database i find that arcserve has backed each tablespace up in a seperate session which means that i have to enter my user name and password to access the admin$ share for each session which in a default Oracle server is over 300 times.
Has anybody else come across this and found a way around it or have i done something wrong in the initial backup of the server? Any help would be very much appreciated cause i'm not looking forward to typing the password in 320 times tomorrow.
I'm using Arcserve v7 with the latest Oracle agent.
