Backup Active Directory server not performing correctly

Hi all,

I recently set up a second Active Directory server for my small business. I have DNS set up on it, as well as Active directory, and both have been verified as working. However, when I turn off the primary AD server, it takes all the computers in my network about 10 minutes to realize there was a switch, and start using my backup. Is this normal? Or is this just poor configuration on my part.

Any suggestions or comments would help, thanks
