Hi i am pretty new to this.
i have a database hosted on a remoted SQL SERVER 2000and want to be able to back up the data every month.
I would like to back up the data on to my local machine.
There are currently only about 4000 records in the table i wish to back up and there wont be a heavy increase in the number of records added.

any help or advice would be greatly welcomed.

thanks.
ami.

The easiest way is to set up SQL to create it's own backup on a local disk, then copy that backup to your machine.

You can not make backup from SQL Server to your machine. You have to make backup on server 'Hard drive' and then copy that on your local machine. Right click on databse + All task + Backup.
