backing up win2k & exchange sever

hello all
we are having win2k bussiness server with dell hardware.
currently we r facing problem of backup.we r not able to backup the system properly..is there ne free third party backup software..or in existing system itself can we take reliable backup so that in disasters it will help us to restore the system fully..
one more thing is it true that if u changed ur administartor passwd sql server stops running & u need to reinstall it again..ne help will be apreciated

The problem with the SQL could be that it is a service and you need to change the password in the SERVICES area in the Control Panel. The situation with the backup doesn't make sense. Why is it failing? Windows 2000 has a greatly improved home-made backup program.

thx for ur replay..but we struggeled to do all this things for sql server but culdnt start the sql server..then we reinstalled sql server & its working now..can u pls give ur ans in detail..
