I have one accounts database on an SQL7.0 server and I want to setup a new daily backup routine with Veritas backup exec. Do I need to choose all the db's in the list and what about filegroups, do they need to be backed up. Also, full or differnetial? How best to set this up?

Thanks

Terry

I have SQL 2000 and use BE 6.5. But the procedures are the same.

I don't do filegroups, I just select the databases.

Master doesn't change much, I do a full back up once a month. Model is the template SQL uses when it builds new databases - Full backup once a month. MSDB stores your jobs, alerts, etc - full back up once a month.

Northwind and Pubs are demo/sample databases, I don't back them up at all.

My databases - I do three transaction log backups every day,
one differential every night but friday, and one full backup every friday night.

The BE wizard makes it very easy to set up as scheduled jobs.
