Backing up SQL Server

I have backed up multiple SQL Server databases to local drives. However, how do I backup a SQL Server database directly to a network drive???

As soon as I use the \\us....., it wont allow me to do that.

Please respond ASAP. Turnaround time is of the essence

if it wont let you specify a network path as the above, i suppose you could mount the network share as a drive and then just back up to that drive. Have you tried that?
