Hi,
We're considering moving to Veritas Backup Exec Small Business Server edition to protect our SBS 4.5 network.
Our IT provider says that disaster recovery only works under SBS 4.5. This is fine for the time being. But apparently Veritas don't support disaster recovery under SBS 2000 - which we may upgrade to within the next year.
I am baffled by this, because disaster recovery is a key component of a backup system, getting back up and running should our server be stolen or destroyed by fire, flood or whatever.
I also wish to confirm that disaster recovery works if the replacement hardware supplied is of a different specification (esp. hard drive sizes) to the original. I have been told that Stac Replica (used at present) does not support this, the setup has to be identical to the original, but that Backup Exec does support a different setup to the original.
I await your reply.
I wanted to download the white papers from the Veritas web site, but each time I try the page freezes on me and I have to "crash out" - is there any other way to get hold of them?
Regards,
Jay/UK
