backing up pdf files taking so long using arcserveIT

Hello,

We have this problem backing up 50,000 pdf files (all up about 1.5gb) onto our dlt4000. Compression is already on our
dat tapes. It takes 3 to 4 days to back it. We don't know why? Can anyone help.
