Sorry if this is common sense, but I'm new to DTS here. I was wondering how do you go about backing up all the local packages that I've created? I can easily backup the databases I have, but seeing that packages are outside the database area, how can they be archived? In case SQL Server decides not to work for some ungodly reason, I'd like to have a backup of all the packages I've created. Also, is there an easy way to migrate these packages, say when I need to transfer everything to a "production" server. Is there an easier way than going into all my packages and doing a save as?

Thx!!

Here is a nice little tool that makes saving your packages easier.

Once saved you can then backup the files. The only problem with this utility I have found is that you tend to lose the visual layout of the package.

MDXer is quite right on loosing the visual layout. I had several complex packages that I tested the above mentioned tool with and it hosed the packages to the point that it was not worth unscrambling all my connections, workflows and tasks.

Now for smaller, less complex, packages it works GREAT!

Thanks
