Backing up Outlook 1

Guys,

Prob being a complete spaz but am trying to back up a large outlook folder to cd. Total .pst fold size was over 1Gb so wouldn't fit - split up the in box to a number of different .pst folders each one less than 600mb so no prob - except original .pst folder stil at original size.

Using XP home edition (sp1) and Office 2000

Have you tried zipping or compressing the file before backing it up? You also might try archiving a lot of the stuff, and then also saving your archive.pst file. Once you get them backed up and back on your hdd, you can retrieve archive items.

you need to compact the pst file after you have split it.
