Backing up NEC 2000's

We recently got rid of support on our NEC 2000 IVS's, until now I never had to worry about backing these systems up since it was done for us by Verizon.

None of these systems are ip enabled, I access them all via a dialup modem and matworx.

However, using the save/load/verify feature continues to fail on me. The backup starts, tells me about 80 minutes remaining, works for a little while, and then times out.

I'm thinking of backing them up myself by traveling on site to each location. Could someone tell me what type of cable is needed to physically connect to the 2000's?

Thank you.

This is the one you need for Direct connect

The old IVS system has two types of CPU's. A CP-00 used the MAT-CA-Q which connected to the db25 on the back plane of PIM 0. The CP-03 used the MAT-CA-P or T. The difference is that it connects to the front edge of the CPU with an NEC proprietary connector and a db 9 or 25 on the other. Also, the old IVS may require a program change to determine if a back up can be done locally or remotely. The newer CPU's all used the front edge cable connections.

A common problem backing up these systems via remote was that the modem times out. Set the backup going then open a moc window, hit the / key and then the return key about 3 times. I always hit the return key every few minutes just to be on the safe side. This has worked for me in the past!

Another thing is make sure you are dialling out on an analogue line as they tend to screw up over longer distances when on ISDN!

Thanks for the responses, I will look into buying that cable.

And yes, I am using an analog line. It's odd, when trying to back up some systems it times out after only a couple seconds. However, I still maintain my connection to the PBX as I can still access moc mode.

Thanks.
