Who know's a lot about Backup Exec 8.5? I just got my new system up and running, and I can't tell you how many times I have been the victim of a fresh install of the system because of errors, problems, etc. Anyway, I went on ebay and deciede to get something to backup my system on a regular basis. I got a Seagate Autoloader (CTL96G-S) because I have 2 of them at work, and they are great. Now, I really don't know how to go about setting up my system for backups.
I want your help. I still have to do some reasearch on the Backup Exec for Windows NT/2000 Autoloader/Library Expansion Option. What is a good way to set up my schedule? What type of media sets should I create? The drive hss a 32GB/96GB capasity (4 or 12-cassette magazine). I was thinking of creating two media sets, set 001 and set 002. Then I was thinking I would run a Full Backup on set 001 on Sunday, and an incremental the rest of the week. Then when the following Sunday came around, I would switch to set 002, and do a Full, and then precede to do an incremental the rest of the week until I switched back to set 001 again on the following Sunday. That would give me basically two weeks of data. Any backup exec guru's out there, please give me some advice. Maybe I have this all wrong Thanks in advanced for any help.

With 8.5 comes a ADAMM (Advanced Device and Media Managment) CD. In there is a full explaination of how to best plan your Backup strategy.
