I have been trying to backup the data on a Netapp filer using Windows via the cisfs shares.
For some reason Windows thinks there is about five times as much data as there actually is and keeps asking for tape after tape. Clearly something is wrong.
I have tried ntbackup, tapeware and Arcserve.
Has anyone else any experience in this area ?
Thanks

Perhaps the backup is taking some snapshots along ...? Those start taking up space when blocks have changed, so that could explain

rgds,

I hadn't thought about snapshots.
The question is, how do I stop the backup up from trying to back the snapshots up ?
Thanks
Paulreg

you should be able to do some kind of exclude when taking backups, most software will offer you that.Just exclude ~snapshot dir from your backup list, then you should be fine

Many many thanks.
My backups are now working properly.
