Backing up Exchange trasaction logs to disk?

ArcServe question. Is it possible to back up Exchange 5.5 transaction logs(incremental/diff back ups) to disk, instead of tape. I know that this can be done for individual files using copy utility, but is it possible for the Exchange Agent?

Sorry to say, but from my experience, no. You cannot do this with the exchange agent. You cannot backup to disk at all with AS2000, ARCserve for linux supports it however (as you mount a drive like any other drive), and Enterprise Backup fully supports it as it allows file system backup. But as I said, AS2000 does not, unless there is some code editor way of changing the code to do this.

Also, if you had exchange 2000 (EXIFS) then this would allow you to do a copy job of individual mailboxes as EXIFS is the Exchange Installable File System.

you can just backup exchange to disk normally when it is offline by doing a copy job.
