I am starting a new backup routine for my Exchange server 5.5 using Backup Exec8.5. I am presented with the following options for backing up Exchange:
Microsoft Exchange Directory
Microsoft Exchange Information Store
Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes

Do I have to tick all three boxes in order to back up Exchange correctly? What are the options for backing up and any advantages/disadvantages?

Thanks in advance

Terry

Yes.

Directory - kind of the list of users.
Info store - the whole mail database. Backup in case of full disaster recovery. Keeps the database consistent and small.
Mailboxes - allows the restore of individual emails without restoring whole database. Can restore from this live into database without downtime or compromising integrity.
