Hello

I would like to do a backup of a server with domino also running on it. We have ARCserve release 11 with the domino agent installed on the server

my question is when creating the backup job do we need to include both the directory that lotus/domino is installed in and the domino server which appears as an option to backup.

My fear is having to backup twice over.

Arcserve newbie

Hi,
From our experience I would not use a Notes Agent to backup Domino server. Reason: if you need to restore historical data you will need to have exact version of Domino server, agent and Arcserve. We have been backing up Domino for 7-8 years now using regular file level backup and had no issues restoring, backing up. My understanding to your question is that you would actually backup the server twice, using the agent and file level. Highly recommend file level and multiple test-restores. Unfortunately we lost some backups done with the agent and it would take us forever to get the whole setup reinstated i.e. where would I find Domino 4.x install ? And then the agent etc. etc.
