What is the recomended method for backing up. A customer has a system in place for several years now and the BU menu shows no history of being backup nor does the schedule show any days, weeks, set up for backing up.

I want to make sure I do it properly for them and set them up on a good back up schedule. Also, will the system go offline or slow down. What time of day should this be done, etc.?

Backup will take down VM while that portion is backed up.
Do not backup IVR, IP Music, or VM Messages as they are typically not in use or not needed.
You can do an immediate backup or a scheduled backup, your choice.
The only impact is on VM, which includes AA/CCR and Call Center.

Thank you. How long does it usually take and were should i bacu up the files to

Backup time varies by BCM.
Generally around 15 minutes.

You can back up to several destinations.
For immediate backups,I typically choose "My Computer" and then navigate to a folder on my PC where I save backups. When I name the backup I always include the date.

Scheduled backups will require and FTP server or a PC on the network with a shared folder.
