Can someone please provide me with the correct command to backup an announcement board? I have a 750-B, 750-C, and a Val-Announcement board. I do know that the Val board backs itself up, and there is also additional pc software that can be used for it,,,my main concern is the B and C boards. Thanks in advance for any input.

First a correction: The VAL board backs itself to the LAN under contrrol of the desktop software. It does not back itself up automatically. The TN750B must be backed up to a removable media, either a flash card, tape, or optical drive, depending on the type of system you have. There is a limit of (1) announcement board per media. The TN750C boards have an on-board flash ROM that backs up the announcements. However, TN750C boards do go bad and have to be replaced. When the tech replaces the board and walks out the door with the old board he is taking your announcements with him. It pays to back up all TN750 boards onto removable media. It will cost you a few bucks up front but will save alot of work if a board has to be replaced.

The val has flash ram as well. Same scenario as the 750C. You will retain announcements in the event of a power failure, upgrade, etc., but if the board fails, you're toast. You need the VAL Manager software to store the announcements off-board.

If you have another 750C you can backup to another 750C or backup to the systems flash card (Save Ann [board location]). Don't try to backup a 750 or 750B to a 750C because it can corrupt the announcements. Your 750(x)announcement card requires a data-mod port assigned to the card to perform backups and the system should also have NETCOM data-mods defined for some types of systems.

The VAL card requires IP connections and can't be backed up to a memory card but it will store as much as an hours recordings. That could be over 100 announcements. You can also move the announcements off the card and onto your PC as WAV files for storage. You can also re-record the WAV file and put it back on the VAL card over your network. If you have more that one system with VAL cards you can record the announcements on the system where you are based and move them to another system that is remote to you.

Note that if you have an S8700 it does not support the NETCOM data-mods and so you can't backup from a 750 series card on that system but you could still have one for recording from a station.
