Hi

I was planning to edit my registry keys on my two of my Domain Controllers. Can any one please tell as how to backup the registry keys and how to restore if any failures come.
I did an NTBackup of Systen Status which i beleive it does a backup of the registry also.
But the below link The article says
Ntbackup.exe is a command-line tool that allows you to create backup files of your registry. Ntbackup.exe cannot be used to restore your registry, but Ntbackup.exe files can be used with Backup to perform the restoration.

Iam not understanding the difference between Ntbackup.exe and Ntbackup.exe files

Please let me know If there is any third party software to
Backup and Restore windows 2003 registry

You can right-click any key and click "Export" to save it to a file.

What registry changes are you making and why?

Thanks,
Andrew

Oh, I somehow missed that link. I'd just back up the keys you plan to change, there is no sense trying to backup/restore your entire registry.

For what it's worth, I have done exactly what you are trying to do with one of our domains that spans 2 firewall segments, and it works great.

Thanks,
Andrew
