My computer recently crashed and I lost a lot of info from Outlook 2003 because I had not backed up everything correctly. I had backed up my contacts and sent items, but I lost everything else and I don't want to make the same mistake again.
I understand that by backing up my "Personals Folder" to a .pst file I will backup sent, deleted, and inbox items (everything under the personals folder).
But what about backing up the Calendar as well as journal entries I make for my contacts? Is there a method to back up these two items so that I will have them if I have to do a complete restore? Thanks.

Averythign you have in your outlook folders is held in a file called outlook.pst by default this file is in

C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

but if you right click on the personal folders line in the folder list (Press Alt-F1 if you cant see it) then select properties and the advanced button it will show you where this file is.

All you need to do is to make a copy of this file and you've got everything.

If you have created another .pst file as well then you'll have to back that up also.

I had backed up my entire drive using ghost 9.0. Long story short the drive that the image was put on had issues and could not be read, had to get the image using a data retrieval program. Once I got the image back I pulled the "Office" folder off of it, did a search for *.pst but it returned nothing. There was no pst files anywhere in the Office folder for some reason. Either this pst file dissapeared or there was never a pst file to begin with.
I've basically started over and used Office backup assistance to make a pst file so now I have one for sure.
So this pst file saves all my calendar info as well as any journal entries I've made for contacts? Thanks
