Hi,

We have a Server that TSM is performing backups successfully on, except for one database, which is the largest in size (80 GB). This backup fails with the following error:

Error on Client
18210 :
BackupVirtualDeviceFile::RequestDurableMedia: Flush failure on backup device 'BSMSQL0002A8'. Operating system error 995(The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request.).

The error from the Tivoli backup is:

Backup failed..... Requested data is offline

A differential backup runs successfully, so we know its not name resolution. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ray

Need more information:

What are you backing up and how?

Are you using a TDP?

How is this setup? Disk Storage Pools, direct to tape, Virtual Disk?

For your info-

We have a 340GB Oracle DB that we do a full backup of every night. To accomodate this, we have a dedicated co-located storage pool which is setup to transfer the data directly to tape.

Disadvantage is that you lose a tape drive to your backup and the backup takes a long time but we flashcopy the data to another LPAR and back up that data.

Also, because it is a collocated stgpool it eats tapes like there was no tomorrow!!

Not much help but there is hope for you if we can pull this off!!!

Godd luck.
