I recently installed a CICS 6.1 with CP100. I connected the music source that was used on the previous 6x16 and set the volume level for calls on hold. The customer uses the background music feature and all was well.

The customer heard a pop over the set speakers one day and now can't lower the volume of the music to an acceptable level. They can still adjust the volume up and down. The volume level for callers on hold seems unchanged. I think we can still adjust the input volume down and still use the MOH.

I was woundering if anyone had come across this problem before. The system is on a UPS but the music source is not. There was was not any storm weather at the time of the speaker "pop". There is a mixture of older and newer release phone on the system and all sets appear to have the same problem.

Thanks,

Rob

generally you are supposed use the preamp output(which is high impedance/ low power) as opposed to the speaker out (which is hi power/ lo impedance)

and the preamp output level does not change with turning the volume up or down

It is a high impedance output to the input and has worked fine for 5 weeks on the new system and years before on the old system. I was more curious about the fact that the customer heard a "pop" over the set speakers and now the minimum volume for the background music is higher than before but there was no change in the on-hold level.

It may be just a one time thing that has broke or it may have happened to others on this forum.

maybe accidently the leads were shorted ...
see if the set volume in system programming is at set level and NOT system level ...

I agree with senk1s. I find that when it is set to system volume, bad things happen all over the place.
