Hi,
I have paint shop pro 7 and i have some pictures that i need to remove the background. I have one object and i want to isolate it from the background. Does any one can give me some idea? I want to put the background white.

I would use the magnetic selector to 'draw' all round your object. Then go to Selection, Invert so that you have the background selected. Delete the background then fill with white. You might want to play around with the feather on your selection. Experiment!

If you have the Anniversary release of PSP 7, goto Help > Tutorials and see if any of my tutorials will help you. I do the kind of selection you are asking about in several of the turorials, of mine, Jasc included.

If not, the process is basicaly as AyJayEL suggested. Instead of the magic wand, use the selection/lasso tool set too point-to-point and anti-alias checked.

You can also search the archives at for tutorials of mine that do selections.

Just go up to the toolbar, select "Layer." At the bottom will list all of the layers and the backround.

There is also a bring to front, etc. menu selections. Select the backround and whalla!

Hi Ricki,

Excellent suggestion. However, if the image or photograph is in one layer or only a background layer, then to isolate the background will require a selection.

Once you have selected and deleted the background, you can promote the remaining portion of a background layer to a full layer. Then you can add another layer, move in under the promoted layer and change the background at will. As you suggest, the layers pallete has all sorts of neat features.
