Hi There,

I received an automated message I need to investigate in someones absence stating that a background process was down yesterday at a time. I checked the alert log and no record for that time. Any ideas where else I should look?

Cheers

Sam

Sam,

If there are no messages in your alert.log file that a background process had gone down, what artifacts does your "e-mail alerting module" use to determine that a background process has gone down?

If the database has not crashed, and if there is no evidence in either the alert log or in other "intuitive" locations, then I don't know what you can do to "write up a report" on what happened.

If no one has any evidence that "something bad happened" yesterday, then I wouldn't sweat it...
