hello,

My question is kind of 2-fold.

1) I am wondering the proper way to make a full page background image. Up untill now, i have just been placing a regular image and make sure it is scaled big enough to cover the whole page. It seems a little aukward and impropper this way though.

and 2)
when i place a background image, anything that was on my master page gets hidden underneath. is there a proper way to make the master page elements show above the page content.

thanks for your help.

1 - If the background image is a pure vector, the scaling should be ok. If it's a raster, its print size in the original raster app, like photoshop, should be at least the size you'll need in indesign (at 300 dpi min)

2 - Try putting the background image on a new layer and place that layer behind the other layers.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

(2) jmgalvin's suggestion will only work for layers upon the page with the image. Since your concern is the master page elements being hidden by the full page image, then you will have to release the MP elements from the MP so you can place them on layers above the full page image. Shift-Command-Clicking on a master page object will override it. (Shift-Control-Click on WIndows)

The best way to get master page items to appear above document page items is to put the master page items on the highest (topmost) level in the stacking order. That way, the items are still tethered to the master page, yet sit on top of page items.
