A newbie question ... I would like all of the unused space to the right side of my page to have a certain background color. I know I can probably set my tables to 100% and make certain cells the color, but I would rather not do that because I've had better luck using pixels. Using percentages makes my tables look out of alignment. Here's an example of what I want...
I would like to replicate the way the gray fills the bottom right portion of the screen.

Here is what you can do:
1: You can make a one pixel high and however wide bg image that will tile.
2: I would make the background gray (body) and set the table to the desired width, with a white background.

Also, what you can do is try to import that page into frontpage and see how they did it. You might find that some of it is done using CSS positioned elements. But I would import or save as and look at the code. Hope that helps!

The effect is easily acheived by setting the page background to grey, and then putting a fixed width table on the left, and setting the table background to white. You then add all of your content into the table.

Using tables to envelop a whole page is quite normal - they are one of teh easiest ways to make sure that your formatting is applied correctly in a variety of situations. Jonathan Challis
