Backend Tables on a 'server'

I have several workstation frontends interfacing to a backend set of linked tables on another workstation in a workgroup.

When a frontend is restarted it cannot connect to the linked tables, although I have used UNC addressing etc. However, as soon as I make any kind of logical connection to the backend, for example by doing a search for the particular PC, then the linked tables can be connected to.

I hope that is clear.

Any answers?

Thanks for your suggestion Jayz.. I will examine the method. At first sight though it seems to be concerned with linked tables in the same directory. Still, the stuff might be applicable - I'll see.)
