I'll have to start out by saying that I don't know much about Sharepoint but I do have the responsibility of the backend SQL Server 2000 Databases for Sharepoint.

All of the dB's set to Full Recovery Model in SQL Server with the exception of 3 databases: the SSp1_DB, SSP1_Search and WWS_Search

My content and Site Databases are in FULL Recovery mode and have transaction logs that are way out of control!!! 8gb and up!!!

I was wondering if someone or anyone could guide me in the best configuration. We do not have a large organization so I am not worried about performance and I have been reading that shrinking the transaction logs to a reasonable size and then putting ALL of the Sharepoint databases in SIMPLE recovery mode is a perfectly acceptable configuration.

I'm wondering how others have their Sharepoint back-ends setup!!?? any commments or suggestions would be much appreciated!!!!!!!

I don't have much experience with SQL databases but one way to do it is archive off things you don't need onto tape or other media so you can remove them from the sites. There are 3rd party tools which will allow you to save versioning but if that's not possible then only way I know of would be to manually save each file. Yeah I know it's a pain but unless you got the money for tools from DocAve or something you are going to either write your own .NET tool to pull the data out properly with versioning. I am not a developer but I can tell you it's expensive with the 3rd party tools.
