I heard something that there is a way to make a back up of one NIU2 board on another NIU2 board, which is then placed out of PABX and kept as a reserve in case that active NIU2 board fails.

Is there some procedure for this ? Is it explained somewhere in Alex ?

It is BC12 in question.

Thanks !

P.S. How do you make back up of your system configuration ?

Hi

You install a second NIU2 in your system (preferably in LIM1 where your first dump is located).
Then initiate the following commands
[tt]
/*****************************************************************/
/* */
/* Initiation of Extra Backup Disk (ATA Disk or CompactFlash) */
/* */
/* !! NOTE : OLd Safety backup system is no longer valid !! */
/* !! (SAFETY-HDU, SAFETY-FS, FISBI) !! */
/* */
/* Extra backup is made by copying ordinary backup REL1/REL2 */
/* to the extra HDU/CF. */
/* */
/* */
/*****************************************************************/
IOBPI:NODE=BACKUP,BPOS=1-0-50;
IOSII:NODE=BACKUP,IODEV=BACKUP,SUBFS=SYSSUBFS31&SYSSUBFS41,BTYPE=ATA;
/* Create a new iodev on the sysn for slave ATA "safety" disk */
FICRI:SUBFS=SYSSUBFS31,SIZE=60;
Y;
FICRI:SUBFS=SYSSUBFS41,SIZE=60;
Y;
/* Mount the subfiles */
FIMOI:SUBFS=SYSSUBFS31,PATH=/BACKUP/USR3;
FIMOI:SUBFS=SYSSUBFS41,PATH=/BACKUP/USR4;
/* Create USR3/SES/DR */
FIDII:pATH=/BACKUP/USR3/SES/;
FIDII:pATH=/BACKUP/USR3/SES/DR;
/* Create USR4/SES/DR */
FIDII:pATH=/BACKUP/USR4/SES/;
FIDII:pATH=/BACKUP/USR4/SES/DR;
/* Make sure REL1 is the latest valid backup */
DUBDP;
@W
/* Copy REL1 to USR3 */
FICPI:SPATH=/SYSN/USR1/SES/DR,PATH=/BACKUP/USR3/SES/DR,COOP=DIR;
@W
/* Copy REL2 to USR4 */
FICPI:SPATH=/SYSN/USR2/SES/DR,PATH=/BACKUP/USR4/SES/DR,COOP=DIR;
/* Check USR3 & USR4 */
FIDAP:pATH=/BACKUP/USR3/SES/DR/*.*;
FIDAP:pATH=/BACKUP/USR4/SES/DR/*.*;
[/tt]

Good luck

if i hade understand correct you make a copy of the REL1 and REL2 to the extra card but the lic file is not in REL1 or?

Hi mdman1

The lic file is located in /SYSN/USR1/SES/LI
As you can see, in the command FICPI, you specify the path /SYSN/USR1/SES/DR to be copied, so you can add an other command FICPI to copy the path where the license file is stored.

If you want, you can copy everything form the original disk, such as trafic measurment or logon and command files if you use it. It is up to you to decide what is important to copy on the extra CF.

Don't forget that the idea is to recover the system from crash disk and power off.
Normally you have receive the lic file in a mail and the traffic measurement are stored in PDM.

Best regards
