Back up two servers 1

I have two servers one data and one exchange. Have arcserve 2000 and advance exchange agent.

Is there anyone of fiddling arcserve so it will back up both servers. As I dont want to fork out another 400 quid

Hi,

Install arcserve on the data server and the exchange agent on the exchange server.
Backup exchange thru the network.
Data server can be backedup locally..if the files not open..

Tried that and it wouldn't see the exchange organisation....help!

Check to make sure that the account you are using to back up with has permissions on the Exchange Org. It should be a domain account (preferrably not Administrator).

The exchange organization will be seen only if you install
arcserve on the Exchange server or on a server which has the exchange administrator installed...

Since you have intalled arcserve on a File server and the Exchange server is remote...

Under the ARcserve source, go through the network and expand your Exchange machine...

You will be able to see the exchange objects...

I've only got ARCServe 2000 workgroup edition, plus exchnge agent - will this stil work?

ARCserve 2000 workgroup edition can backup only itself and remote WORKSTATIONS\PROFESSIONALS and not remote servers.

if you have 2 servers that you want to backup.. you need the ARCserve advanced edition..
