We are a small office trying to use Veritas v.10 but it's not working out well because we find it very complicated to use. We have one server networked and want to do a daily back up by switching between two travan tapes. The back up recognizes one tape but not the other. Additionally, we would like to erase data from a tape but can't figure that out either. I have searched help but everything I have tried hasn't worked. Appreciate any help someone can offer.

Sorry , I'm not sure what you're trying to do exactly when you say
...want to do a daily back up by switching between two travan tapes
Do you mean 1 tape 1 day, the next tape the next day?

The tape that BE can't recognize, does it have good data on it or can it be wiped out with no worries?

To erase an entire tape, put it in the tape deck. In BE, drill down to the tape deck, right click it, and select "Erase". It can take a long time to erase an entire tape!

I only erase a tape when I'm going to throw it away, and then I use a bulk eraser. When I'm going to re-use a tape, I simply relabel it (right click the deck in BE, select "label tape"). Relabelling does not erase a tape, but it does render the data on it unreadable. I then overwrite the tape with new data.
