I have a shared drive on my server with various folders. The ntfs permissions are set on each folder at creation.

I am a little worried that if a folder is created and ntfs permissions are set incorrectly it will wipe out the current settings.

Is there a way to back up the ntfs permissions on folders so if they do get screwed up I can reset them without having to go through each folder and assigning permissions all over again?

not sure about backing up however to restore them, should they get screwed up, you can use a script/tool to fix

use either cacls.exe or xcacls.exe within a script to apply the NTFS permission you need for each folder level
