Hi good folks of the forum, I am told out Octel 250 can be networked. I wanted to see if anyone out there knows how and if you can back up to a SAN or if there was a way to save and individual subscribers voice mail messages in .wav or other format that can be archived to cd or other external media. When I go into option 21 to do the system back up it says save fax & voice messges = Y. So I think I have what we need but what I am looking for is a way to get it off the tape into a viable format with out having to do a full system restore on the Octel from tape.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Lilabell

No you can't back it up to a SAN. You can use OAS so a user can pull the messages from the mailbox and export it to a wave file .

When someone told you the O250 can be networked, they most likely were meaning as a node on a "collection" of other voice mail systems all used for analog networking, or as a node on a collection of other Octel 250/350 systems all used for digital networking. The digital networking uses a LAN card in one of the slots of the cabinet.
I agree with Ken - the only method I am aware of to save messages to another format is to use the OAS server.
