Hi folks, hope you can help again.
Running SCCS5
SMI workbench 4
Web client 4.5

Master script at around 33k characters.

As we concluded before the server version dictates the script character limit not the client. In my case 50k.

We recently had a fault where the master script failed to load correctly, our supplier suggests it's because we use SMI workbench rather than web client to make script changes on the master.

Now i appreciate neither are up to date versions but does it make sense what we are being told ? Is it a known fault that using SMI on a script over 30k should cause issues ?

In my mind it doesn't seem to make sense that what client you use when the limit is set by the server.

The character limit is definitely 50K so it must be the SMI workbench which has the problem. With Web client, the script editor is initiated via terminal services,(CC6 is different), but I'm not sure of the mechanism in which SMI initiates script editing. SCCS5, web client4.5 and SMI are all end of life so don't expect much help from Nortel, not that they are much help in any case.

The last PEP configuration I remember for the SCCS 5 client is
- NS040107G015C
- NS040107SU12C
- NS040107G018C
Do you have these PEPs applied? Does the problem happen from any fat client or only one? Can you reproduce it?

For Release 5 the fat client was fully supported by Nortel (meaning it works for 50,000 character Master Script). If you have the correct PEPs applied, I don't think the client is a problem.

Does the problem happen from any fat client or only one? Can you reproduce it?

My opinion is that your vendor is trying to get you to upgrade to a supportable platform (and I agree). You are playing with fire by staying on Rel 5.

Thanks for the info i think i see now, on my pc i never have the problem and in looking in my Nortel folder i have the 3 PEP'S listed, my colleague who did have the problem does not.

Am i right in thinking PEP's are like service packs ?
What exactly does PEP stand for ? (sorry if i should know :) )

Found it "Product enhancement packakeg

FYI - You need to load the PEP's Service update in the order I listed.
