I was having a discussion the other day about how to back light a handsets display using only a single pair for power and data. FOr example a Nortel T7316e has a RED MWI but no back light but he said the Avaya 1400 series uses a single pair and provides back-lighting. Of course the IP sets with POE do this because they have plenty of power. The Partner sets do this but they have a separate pair used for power. If using a single pair does it really depend on the KSU. I am no engineer so I am curious how this all works.
