Hi,
I am about to make updates to my database tables, and would like to find out the best way to take a backup beforehand. I have an Access Front End mdb database in My Documents that links to the back end tables, I have my Back End tables on MS SQL Server, in a Microsoft SQL Server directory. I have another mdb file set up in My Docs that is just Local Linked Tables, nothing else. The problem is, someone else helped me set up this last mdb when I took my Access db over to MS SQL Server and split it into FE and BE, so I can't figure out what it is or what its purpose is. I think we may have copied data from there into MS SQL Server.
As far as backups go, my intention was to keep the original db as is, take a copy, and work with the new copy under a different name. But I have not been able to figure out how to change the links to the tables in my Front End db, and am now not sure if it is worth the trouble and maybe should just take a backup that I can refer to if need be, and work with the original. (and should I back up the SQL Server tables... the Access linked tables... the Access mdb... all of the above???).
Sorry, very confused and new to SQL Server.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Lori
