Greetings all...
I'm running BAB v9 and occassionally I find that my backups fail when going to the second tape with:

Unable to write to media. (Media=XXXXX [S/N: 03$080], EC=ILLEGAL COMMAND) E3712
Unable to close session. (EC=ILLEGAL COMMAND)

I have a STK L80 library with two LTO Gen 1 drives connected to an IBM x235 with a U320 dual channel SCSI card.

I then test the tapes by running a test backup and then restore and they're fine.

Checking the CA website was completely useless as I could find E3712 but not E3719. With E3712 there is no suggestion or tips for what you can try to correct this problem...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

Carson

as what I'd always say regarding to this kind of problem:

1. check CA CDL;
2. update the SCSI adapter driver;
3. disable the tape drive and changer in OS device manager;
4. apply the latest CA service pack and device support patch.

I would not recommend this so much if not for the fact that it has resolved more problems than anything else.
