I've seen documentation describing the problems getting the number of records from a b_stat command with Visual Basic. The solution suggests defining the field as a string and convert it to a long. I can't get this to work. If anyone has done this and could provide sample code it would be much appreciated.

The Pervasive KB ( contains a solution with the information you need. The solution is titled

"VAL() function in Visual Basic can cause incorrect file information to be returned from a Btrieve STAT operation"

If you search on "VAL()" you'll find it.
