is it just me or is it not possible to change a DID and ext number for a B179 without rebooting ipo?? we needed to re-use the DID's because we were running out. so I changed a few ext numbers of b179's at a site to a non-DID range . then I created new ip ext's with the old DID, but it would ring busy on inbound calls? but if I rebooted the box it started working.

You need to reboot.

Check system status > extensions to see which user is currently logged on to the B179.

I agree, I had to reboot. but I was wondering if there was a way to not need to do it. It stinks that we have to reboot just to create a new ext number for b179. most of our clients will not allow reboots during the day. but always need it now!!!

I had them do a factory reset on the phone, but that still didn't fix the number somehow being tied to unit.

I think dialling *36 on the B179 would have worked too.

Its a sip phone. when you change the extension you have to change it in phone under account 1 or main account. and the phone system should not need a reboot for changing extensions.

when I changed the ext number in the ipo, I also logged into the web gui for the b179 and changed the ext number there. then I even rebooted the b179 after changing the ext number in both places. you still couldn't call the first DID of the b179. but It only affected the DID? you could call it internally, just not from the outside.

but after reboot of ipo, it started to work correctly.

I didn't get a chance to test *36ing it yet as derfloh suggested.
