How do i make InDesign only work in black/white ?

If i make an paper add' and use shadow or any other special effecte, the PDF when i look at the separations uses all four print colors, and the paper will not accept it.

Why isn't there a B/W working profile in InDesign ???

How do you come around this little problem ?

Kind Regards

You can either design the ad with entirely grayscale elements or you can print a composite CMYK to a grayscale output device.

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?

Design the ad with all grayscale colors, and go to the Print command. When you get the window, see if you have a Preset - Postscript to PDf. If so pick that. Then click on Output - left frame of Print window. On the drop down menu next to Color select Composite Gray.

If you don't have that Print Preset, select Postscript Device independent and Adobe PDF as the PPD. Again, select Composite Gray under the Output settings.

Both of the above will generate a .PS file for distilling in Acrobat, and the pdf will be grayscale.
