I have installed "HP PrecsionScan LT" scanner software on a XP system, and ME system with the same results. I have contacted HP with no help.
Problem: Scanner not found(HP ScanJet 4200C). Using the trouble shooting help from HP I am led to believe that the USB ports are not initialized in BIOS & that HP can provide no support for this. Catch 22 I am also using HP PhotoSmart 7350 (USB) printer that is recognized and functional. Have swapped USB ports and printer works, scanner not found. Swapped cables, same result.
Have un-installed, re-booted & re-installed so many times that I am close to fading the bits on the CD or wearing my power switch out!!!
Is there an alternative to the HP software or some diagnostic tool that I am not aware of to dig into this? Maybe something like the set of AT cmds for a modem that can be excecuted at cmd line?
Barring a hammer or wonderful pyrotechnics as a cure any suggestions?
Thank You
