We have a customer with a Merlin Magix that is set up in "Key Mode". They ordered a PRI from their carrier and we are now trying to figure out how this can work. Is there any way to use a "Pool" button on a Magix thst is set up in "Key Mode"? Or, is there any way to use a PRI when the Magix is in "Key Mode". Or, is there any, relatively, easy way to change from "Key Mode" to "Hybrid" or "PBX" mode without haveing to reprogram the entire system?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don

I beleive you will need put on your programming hat, pri will require to my knowledge you set the system in hybrid/pbx. mode. good luck

Pools don't work in key mode, and PRI's should work in Key mode, but on which phone will the 23 lines appear??

PRI is NOT available in key mode! PRI channels are just that channels - ever try to direct access a PRI channel, or set up a pool button? You can't do it - T-1 you can but not PRI. You MUST change it to Hybrid/PBX

Well, that silly Avaya! Guess they messed up when their docs show it working in the key mode ?

It was interesting - After seeing this post yesterday, I broke out an R7 system managers quick reference just out of curiousity, and there it was on page 6. I've also tried to *03 direct access the trunks, and you can't do that either. It has something to do with the out of band signalling.
I LOVE AVAYA! NEVER A DULL MOMENT!

Can't directly access them on a hybrid setup, can on a key.

OK, now here's what I have to say.

NO, PRI DOES NOT WORK in KEY MODE!

NO, YOU CAN NOT DO YOUR *03 With PRI. (I wish you could...)

So, bite the bullet, got to Hybrid PBX and make it work.

IF you have a client that has OUTGROWN the older, smaller, LIMITED, KEY MODE, then that is a GOOD THING.

Everyone should have enough business that makes them have to UPGRADE to the PBX Mode.

(Or at least that's the theory)

The MErlin Docs speak of setting a PRI on a LEgend or MAgix in the Key mode. There are numberous references in the PRI feature guide stating differences in the Key Mode and the PBX Mode, for one, the Key Mode does not support call routing by dial plan.
*03 does not work, line appearances do.
I personally have seen a MAgix in the Key Mode with a PRI, so I know it does work.
WHY anyone would want to do it is another issue.

Me neither. I actually installed the PRI "assuming" it was in the hybrid mode. It worked, and then .... it changed.
Take care.
