I have a laptop internet issue. It goes between 2 networks... On network 1 it has full wireless conectivity and no issues. The problem is on network 2 ... On network 2 it is wired (no wireless allowed) It can get on the network (LAN) but cannot ping or see anything past the router. It cannot get onto the internet. I can see the DNS server listed when I do an ipconfig /all but don't seem to connect to it. However I can't connect or ping anything on the internet using the IP address or the domain naming convention. Yet the internal LAN network works fine. I can see other computers and printers and connect to them and ping them etc. just fine.
I have reset the stack ...reset the winsock. I have even cleaned the registry which I always hesitate to do... those utilities are dangerous, but I figured my next choice is to reinstall XP. So if the registry cleaner messes it up it doesn't matter.
Obviously still it isn't working or I wouldn't be writing here. ... Any suggestions???

My guess is that the default gateway is wrong for the wired adapter. What do you get with
ipconfig /all

the gateway is correct... on ipconfig /all I have another computer connected to the same wall plug which I switch to for testing ...and it woeks perfectly with all the same setup data ... sorry i didn't mention that before

If you have 2 different default gateways configured on a single computer, it won't work.

However, I've been told there is 3rd party software that will do conditional routing on a computer with multiple NICs.

MCSE CCNA CCDA

You could potentially add route add statements so the laptop knows what packets to route where.
