I have inherited a Wifi network connected to the Internet. It had not been set up as a Secure Network.
I would like to know how to do that.
It has 1 Linksys WRT54G Wireless G Router and a mix of Belkin Wireless G USB Adapters and Linksys Wireless G USB Network Adapters.
Do I have to reinstall the software on the PC's running the Adapters & set the security (WPA?) there, or is there some other methodology?
Thank you

First thing you should do is get the mac addresses of all your devices and turn on mac filtering. This will limit only devices that you know the mac of to access the wireless network (this is not fool proof as mac's can be spoofed). Next I would look at what encryption is supported by all the devices and turn that on. You shouldn't need any software that isn't already on the machines. Please take it slowly and make one change at a time!

In addition to the above suggestions, You might want to check the Linksys and Belkin support websites for updated FIRMWARE for those products that may have improvements or enhancements that will benefit the WIFI network you are going to maintain. Some FIRMWARE updates add new features also.

Hope this helps!
