Hi all,
I don't know if this possible, but here goes, Is it possible for the Octel to be programmed so it will transfer 4 and 5 digit extenisons, I went in and changed it to 5 digit, but it would not except a 4 digit exrenison number, so I had to change it back to 4 digit, the reason for this, we add a Cisco server for VOIP and it is hooked to a Nortel Meridian 1 61C, so we have 4 & 5 digit Extenisons now, if I call in local and hit the Octel 250, it will not accept a 5 digit extension, if this possible, I'll have to program the Nortel next.
Your help with this matter is greatly appreciated.

Try to put the longer number in as an alias in the mailbox. We have 5 digit extensions for key 0 and 7 digit for key 1 and I am able to put the 7 digit numbers in as an alias address.

The system knows who I am when I call from the 7 digit number.

One thing that will work but it will take some doing is to change the system to 5 digit ext numbers and then in the mailbox profile add a extra digit to the end. So if a nortel user is 4000 change the ext number to 40001. The PBX should ignore the las digit as it will match on the 4000 and the ext for the Cisco should then also work.

The MWI should also work as the nortel will ignore the last digit, or it should anyhow.

Hi All,
Logged into Octel 250, at main menu, went to # 1 System Parameters, then went to # 1 Change Installion Information, and Changed Number of Digits in Extension, Changed Used for Outcalling and ECP from 4 to 5, also changed Used for Message Waiting, also changed the Sucscribers Extension to 17711 and Alias Address to 17711, then and called from the outside into octel 250 and I heard Please hold, and then just silenceand never rang, timed me out and hung up on me, I'm doing something wrong, also tried to call a Cisco Phone, with the same results.
What else can I do, Please Instruct other options.
Thank You

Well it sounds like the Octel transfered the call but Nortel did not like what it was trying to do. Are you using supervised transfer or non supervised in the ECP mailbox?
