I've recently installed my first AX controller, all went ok except for the voicemail. I installed a 4gb (supplied by Mitel) onto the controller card (both cards are 4gb on the controller)and did a full software install from vxworks with the fixpartition command as well (Latest 4.2 software from the Mitel website). But the problem is there are still no voicemail options in the voicemail dialogue box from the main programming menu apart from one visual voicemail tab. The system currently has no mailbox licences at the moment- I'm going back to the site in a couple of weeks to re-license it as I've been told by my own company's Mitel tech support that the options 'should' appear once it has been licensed. I'm a bit sceptical as I installed a CXI last week and checked the voicemail options and they were all there before I licensed it. Has anybody else come across this problem?? Have I done something wrong??

I think you will find this happens on all controllers not just the ax
no vmailbox licenses = bno voicemail.
we now get at least one mailbox license for every controller so that we can configure the voicemail and setup port for RADS etc

I have recently installed a clustered MXe site and if you don't buy voicemail then it won't appear in the config, we are using NuPoint.

Just be mindful when you apply the mailbox license the controller will need a reboot to configure the voicemail system.

Like Billz66 mentioned we did buy 1 mailbox to enable RADs

voicemail will not appear unless at least 1 voicemail box is purchased
Once it has been added you will then have access to all the voicemail forms.
It will require a reboot after you have added the ports

Cheers guys, it's ok on the re-boot as the site is not fully perational yet anyway. I'm also setting up auto attendant for the first time, so far as I'm aware there has only been 1 mailbox license purchased, they are not having multi layer menus, just one main greeting with 3 transfer points to ring groups and a 4th option to dial extns directly (All of the sets that will be dialled directly are numbered 401 to 482) I used 4 as the leading digit as the announcemount will be along the lines of "press 4 then the room number you requre" Will I need more than 1 mailbox licence for this as the 3 transfer options could take a mailbox each (from what I roughly understand!!)

And... could anyone give me a really brief understanding of what a name tag hunt group is and what it is used for??

As you can tell, I'm pretty new to 3300, BCM, OfficeLink and Realitis DX were my thing, but the company I work for has dropped BCM and has gone with Mitel!

A name tag hunt group is used for a number of things which includes using it as an answer point which can be routed into voicemail so that the huntgroup and the mailbox match.
It is also used to identify the number that was called so that the person answering the call can identify what the caller dialled.
So instead of getting either trunk ID or CLI the phone display will show the name of what was called.

tdmneil, from what I understand you will need more mailbox licenses then 1 to do what you indicate above. The internal voicemail often uses mailboxes to setup these transfers. The single license will be consummed by the general attendant mailbox.

The single biggest problem with communications is the illusion that it has taken place.

Cheers guys, it went exactly as above, licensed, reboot, and VM options were there! In the end I used auto attendant as they wanted to direct dial extns- so the Mbox licences were not an issue. I did restrict all other digits apart from the leading digit of all extns (4,5) and gave all VM ports a cor that blocks all routes, but when the AA greeting is played you can hit * and get a mailbox/ username prompt. I've changed the admin, manager and technician passcodes and disabled fax detect- is there any other programming I can do to prevent toll fraud??

Cheers again!!
